Overview

The Sr. Lead Process Engineer reports to the Maintenance Manager II.  The role is responsible to plan, create, modify, or adjust work instructions related to Preventive Maintenance Programs at Bay Center Foods in Valencia, California.  The role will provide technical and engineering feedback to Team Leaders and Planner for proper execution and implementation of work Instructions of related programs. The role will also create a clear and effective training materials (manuals, guides, engineering drawings) to improve performance for technicians for the maintenance department, focusing on simplifying complex processes, analyzing learning gaps, and ensuring content aligns with Growing Excellence goals, requiring strong writing, project management skills, and learning expertise.

 

The Sr. Lead Process Engineer bridges content between creators (SMEs) and learners, ensuring instructions are logical, accessible, and enhance skill development. The role will also lead or assist the Maintenance planner/scheduler on scheduling routine, preventative, and emergency maintenance throughout BCF, using a computerized maintenance management system (CMMS). Additionally, the Sr. Lead Process Engineer will enhance processes across the entire organization, working closely with all departments to determine needs, schedules, and priorities for maintenance personnel.

 

As of the date of this posting, a good faith estimate of the current pay scale for this position is $190,000.00 to $200,000.00 This pay scale takes into account a wide range of business factors and may change over time.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, author, and maintain manufacturing documentation such as work instructions and standard operating procedures (SOPs), manufacturing process flows and routings, assembly instructions and visual aids, bills of materials (BOMs) and manufacturing specifications
  • Collaborate with design, process, and manufacturing engineers to document new process changes
  • Ensure documentation complies with internal standards, quality systems, and regulatory requirements (FDA, SQF).
  • Manage document control, revision history, and change management.
  • Conduct document reviews, audits, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Train technician personnel on updated work instruction documentation and procedures.
  • Analyze manufacturing feedback and update documentation to improve clarity, efficiency, and error reduction.
  • Support root cause analysis by providing accurate process documentation.
  • Ensures all Food Safety policies are trained on and adhered to
  • Lead improvement projects by evaluating current processes for efficiency and effectiveness and proposing and implementing improvements as appropriate
  • Ensures process documentation is kept current including Policies, Standard Operation Procedures, Work Instructions and more
  • Schedule maintenance activities across multiple equipment centers, using CMMS
  • Develop and implement new maintenance processes throughout various departments
  • Use data to predict maintenance needs
  • Organize spare parts inventories to prepare for emergency or preventative maintenance needs
  • Foster a culture of safety awareness through correct maintenance processes
  • Champion organizational efforts to promote and sustain a safe workplace.

  • Passion for Chick-fil-A vision and strategy
  • Experience with Oracle, SAP, or similar ERP system (preferred)
  • Experience with Lean, or Six Sigma tools (preferred)
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite

Preferred Qualifications

Education:

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related discipline

Experience:

3-5 years manufacturing experience

Preferred Experience:

Six Sigma Certifications – Black Belt, Green Belt, Yellow Belt
