Overview

The Supervisor II, Automation & Technology will have broad and deep domain expertise in Mechatronics, strong communication and relationship skills, and a commitment to transparency and service. The Supervisor II will create and maintain a work environment that enables automation technicians to achieve their targets and goals and will address concerns as they arise. The Supervisor II will be a champion for Growing Excellence and will complete Daily Management Systems (DMS) such as Initial Problem Solving (IPS) activities to enable the facility to meet critical key performance indicators (KPIs) and achieve the site’s CBN (Compelling Business Need). This position requires the flexibility to work holidays, weekends, and rotations as needed.

 

The Supervisor II, Automation & Technology will report directly to the Maintenance Manager and will lead in a way that supports Chick-Fil-A’s vision and strategy while embodying the corporate purpose.

 

As of the date of this posting, a good faith estimate of the current pay scale for this position is $150,000.00 to $160,000.00 This pay scale takes into account a wide range of business factors and may change over time.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure the Automation technicians are supported by leadership in the three major support categories of Infrastructure, Application, Automation by providing vision, direction, and motivation
  • Champion organizational efforts to promote and sustain a safe workplace
  • Actively support and lead all process adherence activities including compliance to Safety, GMPs and Food Safety programs
  • Effectively manage team schedule to ensure adequate staffing for successful completion of assigned work at every shift
  • Effectively manage workflow during the shift to ensure that team members are in compliance with rest and meal break laws
  • Regularly provide updates to the Maintenance Manager on overall team performance and escalate issues in a timely manner as appropriate
  • Motivate and support the team to accomplish goals and assigned work for the shift
  • Conduct and lead regular team meetings including daily pass downs and shift huddles
  • Serve as a communications conduit between Sr. Leadership and team members; effectively and timely communicate information and updates on a regular basis
  • Be responsible for department’s KPIs
  • Supports meeting or exceeding standard production efficiencies on all production lines
  • Assist daily technical requirements to ensure the facility is operational and all IT/OT repairs are proactively addressed
  • Oversee the Automation technicians’ activities during production and Continuous improvement (CI) projects
  • Help plan, schedule, coordinate the Automation technician’s CI work and Instrument calibration activities
  • Guide and mentor, the technicians in the troubleshooting and resolution on any issue that may arise on all site IT/OT in a timely manner
  • Ensure BDE’s and PS1 are completed after any major downtime
  • Runs and analyzes Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES) reports
  • Opens and closes job orders and work paths
  • Perform supporting activities for engineering and manufacturing including 5S and Lean manufacturing activities
  • Engage the team and take a leadership role in the implementation of Lean tools (5S, TPM, Problem Solving, OEE, PS1, etc.)
  • Support the development of Automation Technicians and Sr. Automation Technicians using skills matrices
  • Evaluate performance of team members including providing performance feedback in monthly 1:1’s
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams regarding overall operations performance and drive continuous improvement
  • Champion Growing Excellence initiatives and partner with the Maintenance Manager and Line Structure Team to complete Daily Management Systems (DMS) such as Initial Problem Solving (PS) activities to eliminate losses.
  • Empower team members to take on challenges and bring forward solutions (Growing Excellence)

 

  • Proficient on Industrial hardware and MES
  • Proficient level on AutoCAD Electrical and Plant 3D
  • Proficient in ISA S95 standards
  • Solid knowledge on electrical safety requirements and Risk Assessment
  • Knowledge with managing SLAs and contracts with vendors
  • Skilled in data analytics (ML, AI) and generating custom reports across different systems
  • Understanding and practice of Lean Manufacturing Methodology (RCFA, 5WHY, JIT, 5S, etc.)
  • Detail oriented and adept at troubleshooting system issues
  • Solid knowledge of Fanuc robots, JBT AGVs, ASRS
  • Knowledge in Vision Systems like Keyence and Cognex
  • Skilled at different aspects of managing automation support
  • Maintains industry-leading knowledge in and offers suggestions / solutions for continuous improvement
  • Proficiency in Integration of IT/OT

Minimum Qualifications

Education:         Bachelor’s degree in Mechatronics, Engineering, or related Engineering Technology

Experience:       3+ years

Preferred Qualifications

Preferred Certifications: Rockwell Factorytalk, Fanuc, Inductive Automation, Servant Leadership
