Overview

The Manufacturing Manager I is responsible for all aspects of Production and Distribution during the Night Shifts at Bay Center Foods. The Manager I will lead cross functional shift supervisors and ensure they have all the tools needed to drive performance and build culture at Bay Center Foods. The Manager I is also responsible for Growing Excellence initiatives and OGSM to enable the facility to achieve the site’s CBN (Compelling Business Need).

 

This role requires the flexibility to work extended hours, holidays, and weekends as needed.

 

The Manager I, Manufacturing will report directly to the Manufacturing Manager III and will lead in a way that supports Chick-Fil-A’s vision and strategy while embodying the corporate purpose.

 

As of the date of this posting, a good faith estimate of the current pay scale for this position is $160,000.00 to $170,000.00. This pay scale takes into account a wide range of business factors and may change over time.

Responsibilities

  • Motivate, support, and provide guidance to the night shift manufacturing and distribution teams
  • Execute, develop and promote Growing Excellence by supporting Pillar activities and providing feedback on progress and celebrating wins
  • Connect the team’s performance to the OGSM and site’s CBN
  • Ensure proper resources are in place to execute key strategies
  • Ensure all process adherence activities including compliance to Safety, GMPs and Food Safety programs
  • Set productivity goals for manufacturing and distribution teams
  • Evaluate machine resources, troubleshoot, and drive for results to ensure continued production and minimal downtime
  • Establish a balance between increased productivity and reduced costs of manufacturing and distribution operations
  • Eliminate waste and cease activities that do not create value
  • Develop workflow policies and procedures that improve efficiency without compromising safety or quality.
  • Conduct regular 1:1’s with succession planning, weekly team meetings, and provide honest and timely feedback
  • Manage departmental performance measures and provide weekly updates to goals
  • Takes ownership of results – recognize or pass credit where due, accept responsibility for gaps & opportunities
  • Ensures operation of equipment by ensuring proper operating procedures are followed by employees
  • Maintains safe and clean work environment by educating and directing employees on the use of all equipment and resources while maintaining compliance with established policies and procedures
  • Responsible for the teams’ safe and efficient operation of material handling equipment (forklifts, AGVs, spotter tractor, etc.), internal equipment (conveyors, ASRS, scales, dock locks, etc.), and systems transactions (Oracle, MES, etc.).
  • Determine work assignments, schedules and will conduct regular reviews of work in progress. The role is responsible for the training and development of subordinate staff, estimating personnel needs, making hiring, promotion, and disciplinary decisions
  • Manage the processing of by-products, including: registering production in the system, inventory management on site and through 3rd parties, and byproduct sales
  • Oversees distribution activities to ensure accuracy, completeness, and condition of shipments
  • Manages multiple teams that efficiently oversee & control all equipment movement throughout the facility
  • Finished goods inventory management
  • Direct materials inventory management
  • Monitoring Distribution KPIs
  • Monitoring Inventory KPIs
  • Oversees all team member timesheets & reviews to prevent meal break violations and excessive overtime
  • Provide temporary project support as needed for innovation, research & development (R&D), and pilot projects

Business Requirements

  • Excellent process management skills and loss analysis, and the ability to speak intelligently to department issues and gaps
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to make sound decisions based on facts, common sense and previous experience
  • Must be approachable and accessible and comfortable working acrosss departments
  • Strong drive for results and sees work through to completion
  • Complies with operating procedures and applies lessons learned to improvement activities
  • Able to anticipate needs and manage shifting priorities
  • Proficient in MS Office
  • Experience managing temperature-controlled warehouse operations (refrigerated or frozen)
  • Demonstrated experience over several years directly managing exempt and non-exempt team members
  • Experience with Oracle, SAP, or similar ERP system (preferred)
  • Experience with EWM, JDA, Red Prairie or similar Warehouse Management System (preferred)
  • Experience operating in a highly automated environment including ASRS, AGVs, etc (preferred)
  • Experience with Lean, or Six Sigma tools (preferred)
  • Knowledge of demand and supply planning (preferred)
  • APICS or equivalent certification or working to complete (preferred)
  • Certified forklift trainer

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field such as Food Science, Supply Chain, Logistics, Business Administration or 5+ years manufacturing-related leadership experience. Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  •  5+ years of manufacturing-related leadership experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • 8+ years manufacturing-related leadership experience.
