Overview

As the Production Supervisor I, you will lead a shift of Manufacturing Team Members at Bay Center Foods in Valencia, CA and will be responsible for executing safe and effective operations that meet the needs of the organization and its employees. The Supervisor I will lead a team to produce exceptional product for delivery to Chick-Fil-A distribution centers (DCs) and will support the seamless integration of manufacturing and packaging operations. The Production Supervisor I will be a champion of Growing Excellence, will help drive continued innovation and will create and maintain a work environment that enables team members to achieve their targets and goals and will address concerns as they arise.

This role will support a variety of duties including coordinating and communicating with equipment partners & providers, operating equipment on and off the production line, starting and stopping the production line, and communicating with manufacturing and distribution teams frequently.

The Production Supervisor I will coordinate work assignments, establish schedules, set priorities and conduct regular reviews of work in progress.  The Supervisor I will conduct problem solving, will suggest and collaborate on procedural changes and implementation.  The role will orient, train, assign, coordinate and check the work of the team to ensure successful execution and delivery to standards.  The Production Supervisor I will exercise a continuous improvement mindset and make recommendations for refined solutions with an in-depth understanding of current procedures, process, tools, equipment and techniques.

This position requires the flexibility to work extended hours, holidays, and weekends as needed.

The Production Supervisor I will report directly to the Manufacturing Manager II and will lead in a way that supports Chick-Fil-A’s vision and strategy while embodying the corporate purpose.

 

As of the date of this posting, a good faith estimate of the current pay scale for this position is $100,000.00 - $110,000.00. This pay scale takes into account a wide range of business factors and may change over time.

Responsibilities

  • Ensures all OSHA and internal safety policies within span of control are trained on and adhered to 
  • Ensures all Food Safety policies within span of control are trained on and adhered to
  • Supervise a team to complete tasks and objectives related to distribution, shipping, receiving, inventory and by-products
    • Motivate and support the team to accomplish goals and assigned work for the shift
    • Serve as a communications conduit between Sr. Leadership and team members; effectively and timely communicate information and updates on a regular basis
    • Conduct and lead regular team meetings including daily pass downs and shift huddles
  • Evaluate performance of team members including providing performance feedback in regular 1:1’s and foster a culture of recognition
  • Timely and accurate completion of time keeping and PTO requests for direct reports
  • Effectively manage workflow during the shift to ensure that team members are in compliance with rest and meal break laws
  • Effectively manage team schedule to ensure adequate staffing for successful completion of assigned work at every shift
  • Support the development of team members using skills matrices and ensuring team members attend all required trainings, including training of new hires
  • Meet / exceed targets for Extraction
  • Start-up, pause, and shut down manufacturing line.
    • First-hand knowledge in the safe operation of all equipment or machinery in the extraction area, and the ability to train or fill in for direct reports as required
  • Set up and operate production equipment in accordance with current good manufacturing practices (GMP) and standard operating procedures (SOP)
    • Hourly, daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly and yearly report outs of department performance
  • Communicate frequently and effectively with the Packaging Supervisor and Distribution Supervisor
  • Communicate with Quality Assurance frequently regarding line changes
    • Participate in cross training with Packaging Supervisors & Distribution Supervisors
    • Ability to substitute for Packaging or Distribution Supervisor when necessary
  • Recommend potential operational improvements to the Manufacturing Manager
  • Understand, track and report KPIs for Extraction operations and drive improvement as needed
  • Troubleshoot problems with equipment, devices, or products
    • Ensure accurate and timely completion of systems transactions
  • Collaborate with Manufacturing Manager regarding staff performance
  • Drive innovation in the Extraction operations and identify and drive areas of improvement
    • Provide coverage and support for other supervisors throughout manufacturing and distribution
    • Participate in Growing Excellence activities and duties 
    • Perform leader standard work as defined by associated pillars
  • Participate in hiring, termination, and accountability activities for team members
  • Provide temporary project support as needed for innovation, research & development (R&D), and pilot projects
    • Other duties and responsibilities as required and assigned by Manager II, Manufacturing

Minimum Qualifications

  • Demonstrate working knowledge of manufacturing operations
  • Manage pressure and conflicting demands; prioritize tasks and workload
  • Communicate effectively across stakeholders
  • Adapt to change and respond to difficult and challenging situations in a professional manner
  • Complete physically demanding work, including lifting up to 50 pounds and occasionally moving with mechanical assistance up to 2,000 pounds
  • Reach, bend, and stoop while performing work
  • Work with and handle cleaning chemicals as needed
  • Work while standing for several hours at a time
  • Prepare for a flexible schedule including weekends, holidays and rotating shifts
  • Wear all appropriate clothing safety equipment as required for the task being performed
  • Ability to work above shoulders
  • Ability to work around a variety of different smells, aromas and different temperatures
  • Minimum high school diploma
  • 2+ years as a supervisor or similar lead role; experience in a manufacturing facility or warehouse operations

     

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree, college diploma or relevant professional experience
  • Project management experience
  • Experience with Oracle, GE Plant Applications, OpenDock, other ERP/Warehouse systems
  • Experience with Lean, Six Sigma, or other continuous improvement tools
  • Experience operating in a highly automated environment including ASRS, AGVs, etc.
  • Certified forklift trainer
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite (Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Word, etc.)
