Overview

  • As the Lead Team Member, Production, you will own a set of critical tasks and functions as part of the daily execution of the extraction process, along with necessary work and training. As a Lead Team Member, Production, you will report to the Supervisor, Production. You will be responsible for helping facilitate Growing Excellence work groups, helping to manage the workflow from Extraction to Packaging, help move labor resources, and interact with each functional area’s leadership as required, administrating work in our various systems, and generally help manage the daily operation. As a trainer, you will own the training for new and experienced extraction team members, including, safety related training, cross training, efficiency coaching, Growing Excellence methodologies, certification and recertification, etc. In all functions, you will partner with leadership to help plan daily and weekly labor needs, ensure we meet our daily operational KPI’s, evaluate and support existing training programs, help build training for new processes and initiatives, monitor and impact training effectiveness, and participate in continuous improvement initiatives as assigned. You will be required to work with your team members and partner with Maintenance and Quality to ensure that we are producing a product that is within Quality and Food Safety Standards. Additionally, you will need to ensure that Extraction areas are meeting Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP’s) on a daily bases.

As of the date of this posting, a good faith estimate of the current pay scale for this position is $28.00 to $30.00 per hour. This pay scale takes into account a wide range of business factors and may change over time.

 

The position requires a flexible schedule to accommodate production, such as occasionally working extended hours, weekends and holidays as needed. In addition, this role may require you to lead in the absence of your immediate supervisor and lead Growing Excellence work groups in their absence.

Responsibilities

Coordination:

  • Ensures all OSHA and internal safety policies within span of control are trained on and adhered to
  • Ensures all Food Safety policies within span of control are trained on and adhered to
  • Motivate and support the team to accomplish goals and assigned work for the shift
  • Meet / exceed targets for Extraction and Cryovac
  • Start-up, pause, and shut down manufacturing line.
  • First-hand knowledge in the safe operation of all equipment or machinery in the Extraction and Cryovac area, and the ability to train or fill in for direct reports as required
  • Set up and operate production equipment in accordance with current good manufacturing practices (GMP) and standard operating procedures (SOP
  • Ensure accurate and timely completion of systems transactions
  • Collaborate with Extraction and Packaging Supervisors regarding team member performance
  • Support innovation in Extraction and Cryovac operations and identify and drive areas of improvement
  • Participate in Growing Excellence activities and duties
  • Support cross training with Packaging and Distribution as required
  • Troubleshoot problems with equipment, devices, or product
  • Communicate with Quality Assurance frequently regarding line changes
  • Accurate and timely start up and shut down for Extraction and Cryovac
  • Escalation to functional leadership with any Safety, Quality, or Maintenance related incidents
  • Provide coverage and support for other Lead Team Members throughout manufacturing and distribution
  • Partner with leadership to effectively manage team schedule to ensure adequate staffing for successful completion of assigned work
  • Coordinate with the Business Operations, Manufacturing, Quality Assurance and Maintenance teams as needed for efficient operations.
  • Completion of all production and quality related documents
  • Support re-work as needed
  • Communicating with Brown for any issues related to Brown equipment
  • Communicate with Quality Assurance frequently regarding sample requirements and GMP audit items.
  • Timely and efficient communication including email management
  • Replying to Quality Assurance requests
  • Proactive communication for any out of spec centerlines
  • Capable of leading the department in the absence of your direct Supervisor

 

Training:

  • Identifies and drives best practices to increase the effectiveness of the training program.
  • Partners with Lead Team Members and Supervisors to identify process opportunities for experienced team members to increase efficiency and accuracy.
  • Partners with Lead Team Members and Supervisors to roll out and train new processes and initiatives as needed.
  • Recertifies experienced team members on systems, equipment, functions, safety and procedures.
  • Participates in the development and revision of SOP’s and Job Instructions to ensure consistency, efficiency and safety.
  • Ensures all training documents, materials and processes adhere to company SOP’s and policies.
  • Assists in developing, documenting and delivering safety programs and initiatives.
  • Participates in and lends process expertise toward Gemba walks, root cause analysis and other process improvement/Growing Excellence initiatives as assigned.
  • Capable of contributing in all inbound and outbound activities as needed, including receiving, staging, loading, etc.

Minimum Qualifications

Required Business Qualifications:

  • 2+ years of manufacturing experience
  • Strong presentation, facilitation, and written/verbal communication skills
  • Exemplary performance and safety record
  • Proven record of working independently with little oversight - High degree of initiative and urgency
  • Seamlessly substitute for team supervisor with no change in safety, morale, systems operations or labor costs
  • Exceptional attention to detail and organization
  • Ability to build effective relationships at all levels of the organization

Preferred Qualifications

·       3+ years of manufacturing experience

·       Experience leading training, facilitating meetings, managing operations, and resolving exceptions.
