Overview

The Sr. Principal Team Leader Engineering is a department leader who sets and drives the strategic direction of Bay Center’s technical initiatives.  The role will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of engineering, automation and maintenance operations including team management, project execution, and technological innovation.  The role has leadership responsibilities and will lead a group of professionals, will possess an understanding of business strategies, culture, and work to achieve results and is able to execute work beyond the scope of their individual function.  The role will influence the strategic direction by providing input that may directly impact specific programs or functions across the business.  The role will ensure that activities and outcomes are aligned with team priorities and broader organizational initiatives.  The role will possess deep knowledge of plant engineering, maintenance, automation, project management and project execution.  The role will assist with or lead the selection and oversight, including budgetary management, of outside partners and professionals to effectively deliver outcomes and results.   

 

The primary internal contacts for the Sr. Principal Team Leader will be subordinate staff, team members in Business Operations, Finance, Quality, Manufacturing, Maintenance, and Talent.  The Sr. Principal Team Leader will assist with or lead the selection and oversight, including budgetary management, of outside partners and professionals to effectively deliver outcomes and results.  The primary external contacts will include vendors, contractors, equipment providers and service personnel. 

 

 A wholly owned subsidiary of Chick-fil-A, Inc., Bay Center Foods is a manufacturing facility focused on providing lemon juice and serving the unique needs of Chick-fil-A restaurants

 

As of the date of this posting, a good faith estimate of the current pay scale for this position is $295,000.00 to $305,000.00 This pay scale takes into account a wide range of business factors and may change over time.  

Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic leadership and direction for the engineering, maintenance and automation departments, aligning goals and objectives with overall company strategy and priorities
  • Lead and manage teams, including recruitment, hiring, training, and performance management to foster a culture of continuous improvement, innovation and collaboration
  • Collaborate with other departments to define product roadmaps, prioritize future development, and ensure timely delivery of high-quality solutions
  • Manage resources, budgets and timelines to optimize resource allocation, ensure projects and tasks are completed on time and within budget
  • Foster a culture of continuous learning and professional development within the team to provide mentorship, coaching and opportunities for growth and advancement

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or commensurate professional experience of 10+ years or more in engineering or related field.
  • 10+ years of leadership or management role within a food manufacturing company with a track record of successfully leading and growing high performance teams
  • Strong technical background in manufacturing equipment, controls and robotics
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders and collaborate with cross-functional teams
  • Strategic thinker with a demonstrated ability to develop and execute engineering and maintenance strategies and deliver business results and value
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills, with a focus on driving results and overcoming technical challenges
  • Leadership qualities that focus on integrity, accountability, and a commitment to fostering a diverse and inclusive work environment
  • Experience managing Maintenance ERP systems
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
