Overview

As the Manufacturing Supervisor, you will report to the Senior Team Leader Manufacturing and lead a shift of team members for the Bay Center Foods manufacturing facility in Valencia, California. You will lead a team dedicated to creating exceptional product while ensuring safety and achievement of several critical key performance indicators (KPIs). In this role, you will support a variety of duties including coordinating and communicating with equipment partners and providers, operating equipment on and off the production line, starting and stopping the production line down when needed and communicating with manufacturing and distribution team frequently at the Bay Center manufacturing facility in Valencia, California.  This role will also operate some of the most sophisticated manufacturing machinery in the industry. The extraction lead will also help drive continued innovation at an operation like no other in the manufacturing industry.

Due to steady, year-over-year sales and volume growth, combined with the complexity in our Restaurants, Chick-fil-A believes it’s best able to serve current and future Restaurant needs through innovation that extends the Chick-fil-A culture of care to those it serves, as well as those it employs. This new subsidiary is in the early stages of development and is a dynamic, fast-paced work environment focused on launching this new service to Restaurants across the nation.

 

As of the date of this posting, a good faith estimate of the current pay scale for this position is $70,000.00 - $80,000.00. This pay scale takes into account a wide range of business factors and may change over time.

Responsibilities

  • Meet / exceed targets for extraction
  • Start-up, pause, and shut down manufacturing line.
  • Communicate frequently and effectively with Packaging Supervisor
  • Communicate with Quality Assurance frequently regarding line changes
  • Recommend potential operational improvements to the plant manager
  • Understand, track and report KPIs for extraction operations and drive improvement as needed
  • Other job responsibilities and activities include but are not limited to the following:
    • Safely and properly operate machinery and other sophisticated equipment
    • Troubleshoot problems with equipment, devices, or products
    • Set up and operate production equipment in accordance with current good manufacturing practices and standard operating procedures
    • Ensure that product is promptly unloaded into the facility and prepared for processing
    • Properly stage product and prepare for efficient loading procedures
    • Maintain food and environmental health safety standards throughout the facility
  • Correctly enter data as required
  • Collaborate with the Senior Team Leader of Manufacturing regarding staff performance
  • Ability to substitute for Senior Team Leader when necessary
  • Drive innovation in the extraction operations and identify and drive areas of improvement
  • Direct and lead team members appropriately and recognize team members’ outstanding performance
  • Train team members on responsibilities of their position for substitution
  • Support extraction staff as needed
  • Instill a culture of safety, engagement and positivity that reflects Chick-fil-A values
  • Support Chick-fil-A vision and strategy

Minimum Qualifications

  • Demonstrate working knowledge of manufacturing operations
  • Manage pressure and conflicting demands; prioritize tasks and workload
  • Communicate effectively across stakeholders
  • Adapt to change and respond to difficult and challenging situations in a professional manner
  • Complete physically demanding work, including lifting up to 50 pounds and occasionally moving with mechanical assistance up to 2,000 pounds
  • Reach, bend, and stoop while performing work
  • Work with and handle cleaning chemicals as needed
  • Work while standing for several hours at a time
  • Prepare for a flexible schedule including weekends, holidays and rotating shifts
  • Wear all appropriate clothing safety equipment as required for the task being performed
  • Ability to work above shoulders
  • Ability to work around a variety of different smells, aromas and different temperatures

Preferred Qualifications

  • Be a self-starter with excellent project management and organizational skills
  • Be highly motivated with strong interpersonal skills; a team player, yet able to work independently when necessary
  • Routinely shows interest / knowledge in and offers suggestions / solutions for continuous improvement
  • Able to anticipate needs, lead multiple projects, and manage shifting priorities
  • The ideal candidate would also demonstrate functional knowledge and expertise in food service distribution:
    • Warehousing
    • Operations (including Six Sigma and Lean)
    • Engineering standards
    • Warehouse equipment
    • Performance metrics
  • Proficiency in MS Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word)
